I’d pay $6-8k

I'd say $5-6k but I'm not a huge F-body guy so I could be off.

I keep up with the cost of these on the regular, as an ‘02 Formula Firehawk is my dream car (I have mundane aspirations, fucking sue me).

You should almost certainly pay no more more than $9k for a pristine model in the condition specified, and expect to pay no less than $7k. These cars have a very tight price range due to the moderate desirability, relatively shoddy build quality, and absolutely phenomenal horsepower-per-dollar ratio one can achieve with a well-equipped F-body.

The top of the mark would be an ‘02 T/A Firehawk with close to 0 miles, which should go for around $30k, so use that number as your grain of salt.

Thats considered low miles for a Fbody but 9-12k depending if its a WS6, regular T/A, or Formula. Here is about the closest thing 01 T/A .

I have been looking recently since i am deciding on what to do with my 98 Camaro V6. Everyone says buy another V8 Fbody instead of swapping. But the prices on these have skyrocketed, since everyone is finally realizing the LS potential and how good the T56 6spd is.

You know that car insurance commercial with the one guy holding a dollar up by a fishing pole, taunting his customer with, “I gotcha a dollar”?

I’d pay about that much.

And expect change.

...and then sell it for about 5,000-8,000 more than I initially paid to someone with more money than sense.

If you’re considering a V8 F-Body, you definitely want to buy one rather than do the swap. It’s been shown time and again that the swap will cost more than just buying a V8 model outright. I’ve got a 3.8L ‘98 Firebird myself, and after much deliberation over motor swaps and forced induction builds, I’m looking into late C4 and early C5 Corvettes as a replacement. I’m thinking a C4 with an LS1 swap would be godly at autocross.

Yeah, good luck with that.

Depends on how many dead hookers are in the back.

Agreed it would be easier and probably cheaper too. I have looked at C4s 92-96 but its still dropping 8k on anything worth buying. So i have decided to just build it how i want too. The worst part of the swap is the wire harnesses. If you can get a K member with the LS1 on it, its unhook the 3.8L and then drop the member and swap it with the LS1. Mine is an auto so definitely wouldnt swap it with a T56 but its the same 4L60E (4L65E depending on who you talk to) just with a different bellhousing. So it should swap out with little modification (havent found a forum that has done it with auto swap but assuming some mount movement is needed.)

do more hookers add value?

Only if they’re fresh. After 3 days or so, they cause massive depreciation.

I love these cars myself, but 4-7k is all I would throw at one. They wilk start to have electrical problems, the decals fade and fall off, they’ll the kind of car people go in dry, drive hard and put away wet, so youre going to buy a collection of problems they didnt want to fix.

Didn’t SLP only make about a dozen Formula Firehawks in 02?

Also I recently saw a 3k mile yellow 02 35th anniversary convertible with an asking price upwards of. $40k so some people are willing to pay lots for the right one.

But yeah, a regular LS1 6M formula or T/A should be around 7-9k
